Slippery...
Dear friends (especially my friends here in Cork and generally in Ireland),
Just a notice to warn you to be careful. Be very very careful every morning when you're walking to class/hospital ok? And make sure you have a good pair of shoes when leaving the house which has a good grip on the slippery roads.. You don't wanna face a moment of mortification when you slipped or having to endure soreness all over your body the whole day or even the days after..
Take care!!
Sincerely,
Hana Husein. (xoxo)

Past, Present & Future...
Things that happen to you now are steps to shape you for the future..
If you used to be childish, the present will make you more mature..
If you used to be dependent, the present will make you self-reliant..
If you used to be weak, the present will make you stronger..
If you used to be selfish, the present will make you kinder..
If you used to be unfortunate, the present will bring you success..
It is just the matter of letting the present take control and takes it's course.. Everything happens for a reason..

4th Year, 4th rotation = Medicine (Geriatrics)
Hey there..
I'm doing my medicine rotation now, in geriatrics (or some of you might call it medical gerontology).. So far so good, kinda enjoying myself.. FYI, this is my God-knows-how-many-times I'm doing geriatrics since 3rd year and my patient for family attachment in 2nd year was also a geriatric patient. The team is nice and the consultants are super-duper friendly and enthusiastic in teaching..
The schedule is not that bad either.. 9 to 4/5 (if I wanna stay or when we have tutorial) but the geriatric team only expect me to be there until lunch hour.. =P. But being the nice girl that I am (ehem), I would try to stay until around 4 or 5.. =P
I have another week in geriatrics before I have to be in another hospital for another 2 weeks. I don't know med school's system in deciding our attachments but from the way things are going, the system isn't really good, I reckon.. Geriatrics and Hana are somehow meant to be together.. Perhaps I may become a geriatrician one day.... ??? It is interesting, really.. A vast variety of diseases from all sub-specialties in medicine. One more field to consider?? Hmmm....

My new nephew
4th January 2009, marks the day of the birth of my 7th nephew at 0032 hours (Malaysian time). He is the 4th child of my eldest sister and his name is Mohammad Adiffasyah. Alhamdulillah, there was no complication. Though I am a little sad for the fact that I am not able to lay my eyes on him and can't hold him in my arms until June.. *sigh*.

My long-lost hobby..
Hey, it's my first entry in 2009!! woohooo~!!
Class is starting this coming Monday, and I haven't done anything productive during my holiday, academic-wise (as usual). My assignment has not been touched since the week before holiday with only 1/4 of writing done. I haven't started applying for my electives mainly due to my Malay language.. it is painfully awful to read the letter I've typed out and of course, I haven't decided where and which area of medicine I intend to get myself into during summer (KL, Ampang, KT...?? Paeds, OBGYN, Med, Surg etc..???). My final year project wasn't progressing either (I know it's still early, but my supervisor is very enthusiastic about the project and wants regular updates). And I haven't flip through.. I rephrase.. I didn't even touch my medical books when I should be studying medicine for my next rotation! *sigh sigh sigh*
Nonetheless, I am proud of how I spent my holiday (apart from the fact that I've recklessly overdid my shopping... yet, I'm still looking for a new handbag~!!) =P. I am overjoyed that I have found my long-lost hobby that I have been ignoring for a few years now. I'm reading books again~!!! *clap clap clap*. No no, academic books do not count.. I'm talking about story books!!

So, now you know why I have been relatively quiet these past few weeks.. =D

I used to love reading.. I was introduced to story books at quite an early stage in my life. From Disney's pop-ups story books, to Enid-Blyton's, to R.L. Stine's, to Sweet Dreams series (teenage love stories.. blame my sister for this), to Stephen King's & Judith McNaught's.. I could go on and on.. I just love reading.. The last time I was really absorbed in my reading was Dan Brown's, which was like 3-4 years ago..?? Since then, it was slow.. Just occasional best-seller's especially borrowed from my friends. My new fixation on reading now is due to the movie Twilight, really.. (btw, I've watched it 4 times already.. haha). I love reading vampire-related story books since ages ago.. I was/am a fan of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and I was obsessed with L.J.Smith's Night World series. And surprise2, now I am preoccupied with Twilight Saga.. (I am on my 4th book now..).
